The 2024 edition of the Pulcino d’Oro International Tournament is about to enter its final phase. It has been exciting and followed as never before, with many spectators both in the stands and tuned in to the event’s social channels with live coverage of all the matches in Levico Terme. On the third day, the first partial results were announced, identifying the teams that will compete tomorrow for the eight trophies on offer: Pulcino d’Oro, d’Argento, di Bronzo, Gialloblù and Arcobaleno Rosso, Bianco, Azzurro e Verde.
It was a Saturday afternoon full of excitement and surprises, with the competitions going down to the wire. Among the eight teams vying for the prestigious Pulcino d’Oro are Juventus, who beat Levante Azzurro, Vivi Don Bosco and ViPo Trento. Milan won their group with Real Sito of Caserta second, Nuova Tor Tre teste third and Dolomiti Bellunesi fourth. Atletico Madrid defeated Inter, with the ‘nerazzurri’ among the favourites to win the Pulcino d’Argento.
Alcione Milano and Vis Pesaro finished third and fourth respectively. Roma overcame Dutch team PSV Eindhoven in a group that went down to the wire with Palombina Vecchia and Paraiso. Leeds United overcame Vigor Senigallia, Sunderland and Bovolone 1918. Portugal’s Benfica overcame AZ Alkmaar from Netherlands, Vigor Perconti and Underland Berg. Defending champions River Plate saw off competition from San Luigi Trieste, Trento and Borgo. Last but not least, Atalanta emerged victorious from a fiercely contested round involving the surprising Franco Selvaggi Matera, Montebelluna and Virtus Bolzano.
Tomorrow’s matches will be played on the Viale Lido pitches in Levico Terme from 8.20am.
The top two teams in each group will meet in the final to decide the winner of the Pulcino d’Oro in the afternoon.
Among the favourites for the Pulcino d’Argento are Inter, Psv of the Netherlands and AZ Alkmaar. Surprises include Levante Azzurro, Real Sito Vigor Senigallia, San Luigi Calcio Trieste and Franco Selvaggi. For the Pulcino di Bronzo, Trento will try to go all the way. But it will not be easy with opponents of the calibre of Nuova Tor Tre Teste, Vivi don Bosco, Alcione Milano, Palombina Vecchia, Sunderland, Vigor Perconti and Montebelluna. For Pulcino Gialloblù, the list of participants is very interesting indeed. From ViPo Trento to Paraiso from Campania, via Dolomiti Bellunesi, Vis Pesaro, Bovolone 1918, Unterland Berg, Borgo and Virtus Bolzano.
The other teams which will be playing in Caldonazzo in the afternoon after the morning selection phase in Levico Terme will give life to the final rounds of the Pulcino Arcobaleno. Villa Cortese stood out in its group. Just like Torregrotta, Liventina Opitergina and Voluntas Brescia.
The Pulcino d’Oro Girls, which was played in Caldonazzo in the morning and in Levico Terme in the evening, had Inter, Milan, Roma and Juventus in the final round for the Pulcino d’Oro trophy. The Pulcino d’Argento will see on the field Cittadella Women, Juventus, Treviso Women e Accademia Calcio Vittuone, while the Pulcino di Bronzo will be a fight between Pro Vercelli, Lady Maerne e Sala Bolognese.
